Academic Curriculum

At Darling Downs Adventist College, along with the core subjects of Maths, English, and Science, students have opportunities to participate in a range of subjects to engage them in relevant learning. Our expert and caring teachers see students as individuals as their guide them on their learning journey. Set within the framework of a Biblical, Christian worldview, our secondary academic curriculum is consistent with both State and Federal Government requirements.

Years 7 & 8

In Year 7 & 8 students are introduced to having a larger number of specialised teachers than what they may have experienced in Primary School. Students participate in subject rotations, allowing them to have a 'taste test' of a large range of subjects. This often helps students identify subjects of interest or areas of skill as they plan for Year 9 Subject Selection.

Subjects: Encounter, Maths, English, Science, HASS, HPE, Music*, Music Performance*, Japanese*, Agriculture*, Drama*, Art*, Digi Tech*, Design and Technology (Woodworking)*, Relationships*, Food & Fashion*, KiTE.

* Subjects part of rotations

 Years 9 & 10

In Years 9 & 10, along with maintaining study of core subjects, students are able to choose additional subjects based on their interests and skills identified in Years 7 & 8. This allows students to engage at a deeper level in study.

In Year 10, Students also have opportunity to engage in a Uni Prep Course and a Cert 1 in Service. This allows them to have an early start in acquiring QCE points before Senior Years.

Through Year 10, our staff will meet with you and your child to create a 'Set Plan'. This will be a plan outlining what the senior years of schooling will look like to help your child achieve their goals.

Years 11 & 12

The senior years of school at DDAC are an exciting journey in preparing for post school success. Students are expertly guided and supported through academic or Tafe pathways by experienced staff.
